In the mountains of the western United States, there are about 100,000 avalanches each year. Approximately 2,300 avalanches are reported to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) every season, and as many as ten times more go unreported. Avalanches kill more than 150 people worldwide each year. Most are snowmobilers, skiers, and snowboarders. To help improve avalanche control and snow science, crowdsourcing data will contribute greatly to unreported avalanches. Snote is here to make the process easier.
